Art Gander by Danielle Simpson
I write this blog to keep my writing bone connected to my brain bone. And to record and share my interest in art.
My story: My art story began with a Grade 8 visit to Washington DC’s National Gallery of Art. I was mesmerized by a Mark Rothko painting and thought about it all through my teen years. In my years living abroad (Japan, Holland, Scotland) I took up art watching again as a hobby. I was much intrigued by the role of arts and culture in Europe and how it differed in North America.
When I focused myself on communications and PR, I decided to mix in my love of art and look at where art, audiences and publicity meet. My goal is to help the arts community find audiences and engage them: bring them back to the gallery and encourage Canadians to have art in their homes.
One day I plan to take an art class.
